Short version: Eclipsed doesn't collect anything. Your sleep data stays on your devices. If you use iCloud sync, your history moves between your devices through your own iCloud, which we cannot read. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking.
With your permission, Eclipsed reads sleep records from Apple's Health app. Specifically, it reads sleep analysis records: start and end times of sleep sessions, plus the sleep stage if your device records one. It does not read any other Health category. The Apple Watch app requests the same permission separately on the watch and reads the same category, nothing more.
Sleep records are processed entirely on your devices. Eclipsed computes your debt, stores the result in a local database, and displays it. If iCloud sync is enabled, your computed history and reflections are stored in a private iCloud database attached to your Apple Account. That database is yours: it is encrypted by Apple, only your signed-in devices can read it, and we have no server, no credentials, and no ability to access it. You can turn sync off at any time in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, and Eclipsed.
The iPhone app sends its computed numbers to the watch app using Apple's device-to-device connection between a paired iPhone and Apple Watch. That transfer happens directly between your two devices and does not pass through any server of ours.
On devices with Apple Intelligence, Eclipsed can write you a short reflection about your recent nights. The reflection is generated by the on-device model. Your sleep data is not sent to us or to any third party to produce it. Reflections are stored with the rest of your history: on your device, and in your private iCloud database if sync is enabled.
eclipsedsleep.com uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Plausible counts page views and referrers in aggregate. It does not identify you.
Per Apple's HealthKit policies: Eclipsed only requests read access to sleep data, on both iPhone and Apple Watch. We do not write to HealthKit. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing. We do not share HealthKit data with any third party. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Eclipsed.
Eclipsed isn't directed at children under 13 and isn't intended for their use. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, children included.
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
